Born in Toronto, Canada, Brittney Fitzgerald began her dance training at the Joanne Chapman School of Dance under the direction of Joanne Chapman and Barbara Chonin of the National Ballet of Canada. Her passion for performance and storytelling through movement led her to Point Park University, where she graduated with honors in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts degree concentrating in Ballet and Jazz under the direction of Susan Stowe.

During her professional training, Brittney attended Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s prestigious Summer Intensive in 2013 and went on to perform at the internationally renowned Jacob’s Pillow in 2014 with the premiere season of Simerson and Company, performing original works by Brian Simerson.

Brittney has shared her love of dance through teaching at studios across both Canada and the United States, inspiring young performers while continuing to grow as an artist and choreographer herself. Her long-standing relationship with Theatre West Virginia began onstage, where she performed for three seasons as Dance Captain in productions including Footloose, The Addams Family, and Hatfields and McCoys. She also brought her creativity behind the scenes by choreographing beloved productions of The Jungle Book and Pippi Longstocking.

In addition to her theatre work, Brittney spent six seasons as a principal dancer with the West Virginia Dance Company and, in 2020, fulfilled a lifelong dream by opening her own studio, Legacy Dance Co. Her dedication to the arts, education, and the theatre community continues to shape her work both on and off the stage. Brittney is proud to be serving her second season as Theatre Manager for Theatre West Virginia and is thrilled to continue helping create memorable experiences for audiences and performers alike.
